DG Cummins were engaged by Balfour Beatty to carry out installation of some deep Reinforced Concrete Culverts, large diameter Concrete Pipes and associated outfall structures and headwalls as part of the wider Tyldesley UID’s scheme for United Utilities. The scheme comprised the installation of 2400mm Concrete Culverts at depths of upto 6.00m, 1800mm to 300mm Diameter Concrete Pipes at various depths, all installed in challenging ground conditions.

DGC also completed a number of outfall structures and sheet piled overflow weirs to local water courses including dealing with the existing flows in accordance with Environment Agency requirements. Upon completion of the main ‘offline’ works DGC successfully completed the ‘turning of flows’ between the existing facility and the new plant which involved significant and extensive over-pumping, temporary works and close liaison with the client and end user.
